The Van Halen American hard rock band officially formed in 1974. This was after two years of performing in the Southern California area under other names. Their first album, the self-titled Van Halen, was released in 1978.
I’m not really a hard rock or heavy metal fan. Songs from this band are exceptions.

David Lee Roth was only 18 when he joined Van Halen (under its original name) in 1972. He left the band in 1985, but he recorded his first solo album while he was still with the band. He didn’t rejoin the band permanently until 2006.

As you can see, I haven’t collected anything after what Van Halen and David Lee Roth did in the eighties. Music changed a lot from the nineties on and the band changed with it.
